Breakfast Bible Study – November 14, 2020

You are here: Home / Bible Studies / Breakfast Bible Study – November 14, 2020

November 14, 2020 By Redeemer Lutheran

The Breakfast Bible Study on Saturday, November 14th “On the Spirit and the Letter” was led by Rick Ritchie.  Rick is a member of Redeemer and graduate of Christ College Irvine and Gordon-Conwell Theological Seminary with a Master of Arts in Theological Studies with a concentration in Church History.

What does St. Paul mean in 2 Corinthians 3 when he writes about the spirit and the letter?  Are we to pay attention to the spirit of the law rather than the letter?  Or does it mean we should read the Bible allegorically rather than literally?  Great minds of the past have wrestled with such questions over the centuries.  In this study we learned what St. Paul meant and how Luther followed Augustine but went beyond him in keeping the Gospel central in discussing such things.

The study was uploaded to YouTube and can be watched here.
